This training is reserved for doctoral students. DS4H PhD candidates have priority.
14h mandatory to validate the training including 4h practice with master students.

- Understand the role of the supervisor
- Identify supervision techniques
- Identify occasions when written or oral communication is appropriate
- Effective Communication:
- Develop effective communication skills
- Identify barriers to effective communication and causes of misunderstanding
- Apply active listening skills
- Understand what constitutes a successful meeting
- Identify the purposes of meetings
- Participate effectively in meetings
- Encourage and realize the importance of constructive feedback
- Gather and analyse information for briefing
- Prepare an effective oral briefing
- Write clear letters, memos, forms and instructions
- Apply the rules of accuracy, brevity and clarity
- Enable processing active self reflection
These sessions include theory and practice as well as role play.
The training is divided in 4 sessions :
I - Role of supervisor
II - Effective communication and active listening
III - How to give constructive feedback
IV - Reflexive session.
The students’ supervision training aims to give any PhD candidates the skills and confidence to get the most from the bachelor or master student he/she (will) supervises. - Lecturer
